Let’s just let that sink in… We WON the last round of the Asian Le Mans Series in Buriram, Thailand!!!

What a great effort from the whole team… Simply put, perfect execution!

We had an enormous task at hand on this race. This race track on paper fit better the characteristics of our competitor’s car, with long straights where we paid off some time. However, we knew that in the race, with a perfect strategy and execution, we had a shot. Our car was solid on race trim.

I had the daunting task of starting the race, having to pass all the opponents and pull a gap as big as possible to let the team then manage the central part of the race before the final rush. I’m glad I was able to take the lead by the third lap after some good battles, as sure enough, the other drivers didn’t make my life easy. From then on, it was qualy mode for a bit more than an hour, until I pit and left the car to my teammates to finish the job. From then on, the guys did an awesome work defending the lead and pull even more gap on the competitors. As we know, in endurance racing, it takes one tiny mistake in the strategy to lose the race. The team made all the right decisions to keep us ahead until the checkered flag.

I have to thank the Villorba Corse guys for a masterful execution; it finally came back full circle, and the great effort, passion and dedication shown in the past rounds paid off. Thanks also to my teammates David Fumanelli and Andreas Laskaratos for a stellar job behind the wheel and generally being such nice blokes! I had a great time with them over the past few races.â €It’s been a great first experience in Asia, and I look forward for more to come!
