Well, that was a bittersweet end to the season!

Yuki did a great job in qualifying placing our car P8 overall and P2 in the Pro-Am class. In Race 1 we brought another podium home with P3. Even though it’s the lowest step, it’s still a pretty good feeling to be up there! Of course, we wanted more, so between Race 1 and 2 we kept working on the car trying to find some time here and there, in the hope of bettering the final position for Race 2.

Unfortunately, it didn’t go quite as I planned. I had a great start overtaking two cars. On the run to the first corner, one of the cars decelerated more than normal, and I saw a gap, so I went for it. Unfortunately, the car which I was overtaking tried to close the door, but it was too late, so we ended up touching. This sent the other car in a spin, and I couldn’t avoid another collision which ultimately damaged our car irreparably, so we had to retire.

Sometimes things don’t go your way, but as they say “without failure, there is no achievement.” The race permitted us, however, to consolidate the third place in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX Championship, which makes very proud! I would have never thought we could obtain the podium and even challenge for the win in our first season!
