Great performance by Alessandro in the first round of the North East Shifter Karting Series, held at Summit Point Motorsport Park, in West Virginia.

Alessandro took the pole position for the race with an incredible laptime, blowing away the competition by more than 2 seconds, and setting the lap record of the track. In the heat race, Alessandro took the lead at the start, and after some laps he left the lead to the closest competitor Alex Manglass (CRG / Maxter) and stayed in his slipstream for the major part of the race. Near 5 laps to the end, he made the move at the end of the main straight, and took again the lead. From that point he pushed to build a gap of more than 1 second and won the race without troubles.

For the Main Event, Alessandro seemed to be even more on focus than the first race, and after a not optimal start, he was able to gain the lead already at the first corner, and from that moment he set a pace practically impossible to sustain for the other competitors, finding himself way in the lead at mid race. At that moment, the unpredictable happened. The front left tire suffered a puncture in the fast corner right after the main straight, where the karts were able to reach speeds close to 110mph. Alessandro flew off the track, fortunately without crashing into the barriers, but the race was over.

It was anyway a great performance by Alessandro and the CKR / Debei tuned by Action Kart Racing, that showed to be the best kart of the field in the hi-speed circuit of Summit Point, a road course where the shifter karts have an average speed of 75mph.

Alessandro Bressan: “I’m very disappointed with the result, of course. But it was a good weekend for us. We didn’t have much time to test in this track, but we were able to find the right setup and solutions to use, especially thanks to the guys of Action Kart Racing Jeremy and Carlos. I found myself pretty comfortable with the track from the very first moment, I love hi-speed circuits, and this is by far the fastest I’ve ever driven into. In these circuits, you need to realize the amount of danger and pay lot of attention. I’m very satisfied with my qualifying, I did a very good lap. For the heat race my biggest concern was to save the tires, it was a very long race. Fortunately the strategy worked as we predicted and I won with a good gap. In the final I realized that I was able to go even faster without stressing the kart at all, but then that happened… it was a very risky moment, I was lucky enough to don’t get hurt. But it’s a shame we didn’t make it to the end, it was the right result for the performance we showed. But you know, that’s racing! You always need to look further and think about the next one, which will be better.”
